Dey Is Kiats an Kiats (excerpt)

Kiats in Englan!
Dey spoil, oui:
dey laugh an play
hide-an-seek wid mice;
buh lehme tell yuh something,
in de Caribbean,
we different altogedder

I hear dem wid meh own ears:
Dey call we Caribbean kiats,
‘primitive wild beasts’,
well, dat mek meh laugh;
we so-called wild beasts
dohn en up in de vet all de time,
we live natural and healty,
free as a bird;
well, free anyway.
